What to Expect
Departure Details
Pickup is from your Dubai hotel, residence, or agreed location between 07:00 – 08:00. An early start is recommended to reach Hatta Dam before the midday heat — morning light also produces the best dam photography.
Exact pickup time and your guide's contact details are confirmed via WhatsApp the evening before your tour.
The drive from Dubai to Hatta takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes via the E44 Hatta Road — one of the UAE's most scenic mountain drives.
Because this is a private tour, the vehicle and guide are exclusively yours — no other guests, no waiting, and full flexibility to adjust the pace and stops.
For groups larger than 6 guests, additional vehicles can be arranged at an extra charge — please mention your group size at booking.
Pickup from Sharjah or other nearby locations can be arranged — please mention your location at booking.
Return Details
The full-day Hatta tour runs approximately 8–10 hours from hotel pickup to drop-off, depending on your pace and chosen activities.
Most guests return to their Dubai hotels between 17:00 – 19:00.
Your private driver will drop you directly to your hotel, residence, or any pre-arranged Dubai address.
If you wish to stay longer at a particular location — the dam is especially popular at sunset — please inform your guide and we will adjust the return timing where possible.
Hatta's mountain roads are well-maintained and fully paved — no off-road driving is required, though 4×4 vehicles add comfort for the wadi sections.
Additional Information
Hatta is an exclave of the Emirate of Dubai located 134 km from the city centre. It is surrounded by Oman but is entirely part of the UAE — no passport stamp, visa, or Omani permit is required to visit. A valid UAE residency or tourist visa is all you need.
The best season to visit Hatta is October to April. Temperatures in Hatta are noticeably cooler than Dubai (typically 5–10°C lower) due to the mountain elevation — ideal for outdoor activities. Summer visits (May–September) are possible but the outdoor activities become limited due to intense heat.
Kayaking at Hatta Dam is available daily from 08:00 and is priced at approximately AED 60 for a single kayak (30 min) and AED 100 for a double kayak (30 min). Paddleboat and donut boat rentals are also available. These fees are payable at the dam and are not included in the base tour price unless specified at booking.
Hatta Heritage Village entry is completely free. The village features restored stone homes with palm-frond roofs, traditional falaj water channels, a fort with mountain views, and exhibitions of traditional weapons, pottery, and furniture.
The Hatta Honey Bee Discovery Center entrance fee is approximately AED 30–50 per person (subject to change). Visitors can don a bee suit and observe the honey production process — a unique and memorable experience, especially for families.
Wadi Hub activity fees (mountain biking, zip-lining, archery) are payable on-site and are not included in the base price. Mountain biking is approximately AED 60 for 1 hour. The hub is open from 09:00 to 19:00.
Comfortable closed-toe shoes or trainers are strongly recommended for walking the Heritage Village, Hill Park viewpoint, and Wadi Hub trails. Sandals are not suitable for most outdoor activities.
Dress code is informal and outdoors-oriented. Lightweight, comfortable clothing is ideal. Bring a light jacket for the mountain air, especially in winter (November–February) and at higher elevations.
Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat — the mountain sun can be surprisingly strong, especially near the reflective dam water.
Carry a valid photo ID or passport — may be required at certain Hatta heritage sites and the Wadi Hub.
Network coverage can be patchy in certain mountain areas around Hatta — inform your guide of any time-sensitive commitments in advance.
A traditional Emirati lunch in Hatta is a highlight many guests mention. Recommended restaurants include Al Hajarain (Emirati cuisine), Tanoor, and Alberi Café. Lunch is not included but your guide will recommend the best local options based on your preferences.

FAQ
Hatta is a stunning mountain exclave of the Emirate of Dubai, located 134 km southeast of the city in the foothills of the Hajar Mountains on the UAE-Oman border. It offers a dramatically different landscape to Dubai — turquoise dam water, ancient wadis, 3,000-year-old heritage villages, cool mountain air, and adventure activities. It is the ideal escape for visitors who want to see a completely different side of the UAE in a single day, without any visa or passport requirements.
No passport stamp or Omani visa is required to visit Hatta. Although Hatta is surrounded by Omani territory, it is entirely part of the Emirate of Dubai. Any guest with a valid UAE tourist visa or residency can visit Hatta freely. Your guide will handle all routing and navigation — you simply relax and enjoy the mountain scenery.
Kayaking at Hatta Dam is not included in the base tour price but is strongly recommended and easily arranged on arrival. Kayak rental is approximately AED 60 for a single kayak (30 min) or AED 100 for a double kayak (30 min). Paddleboat and donut boat rentals are also available at similar prices. Your guide will take you directly to the dam rental point and assist with arrangements. If you would like kayaking pre-arranged and included, please mention this at the time of booking.
Hatta Heritage Village is one of the oldest restored settlements in the UAE, dating back approximately 3,000 years. It features traditional Emirati stone homes with palm-frond roofs, a falaj (ancient underground water channel) system, defensive watchtowers, and exhibitions of traditional weapons, pottery, furniture, and crafts. Entry is completely free of charge. Allow at least 45–60 minutes to explore the full village — your guide will bring the history to life.
October to April is the ideal season for a Hatta day trip. Temperatures in Hatta are typically 5–10°C cooler than Dubai due to the mountain elevation, sitting comfortably between 15°C and 28°C in winter months — perfect for kayaking, hiking, and outdoor exploration. Summer visits (May–September) are possible but outdoor activity options are significantly reduced due to the intense heat. The tour is available year-round, but the October–April window delivers the most enjoyable full-day experience.
Hatta Wadi Hub is the UAE's first mountain adventure park, operated by Emaar, and offers mountain biking (50+ km of cross-country trails, approx. AED 60/hr), zip-lining, archery, kayaking on a separate course, hiking trails, and family activities including Hatta Drop-In waterslides and football zorbing. The hub is open from 09:00 to 19:00 and all activity fees are payable on-site. Your guide will walk you through the hub and help you choose the activities that best match your fitness level and interests.
The drive from central Dubai to Hatta takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes via the E44 Hatta Road. The road is fully paved and well-maintained, and the drive itself is one of the UAE's most scenic — passing through the open desert before the landscape transforms into the rugged Hajar Mountains. Your guide will point out landmarks and share stories about the region along the way. A photo stop at the km 100 mountain viewpoint is included en route.
Yes — Hatta is one of the most family-friendly day trips available from Dubai. Children love the kayaking at the dam, the traditional Heritage Village, Swan Lake, and the Honey Bee Discovery Center (where they can don a bee suit). The Wadi Hub offers child-friendly activities and the calm, scenic environment makes for a relaxed day out. Please mention the ages of any children at booking so your guide can ensure the right pace and stop selections for your family.
